Obviously it’s been a long time!

Life is crazy and Tumblr took a back seat.  I’ve moved back to Portland, Oregon where the young come to retire.  I am also happy to say that I was recently hired at a highly esteemed business that takes sustainability and environmental issues seriously.  Now that things have settled down a bit, the blog should be updated more often!

Thanks for your continued interest, and here’s to saving the world!  One small choice at a time!

This sustainable movement is more about trying to save the world (which, is a pretty lofty goal as it is).  It’s about pulling together to make a difference.  And doesn’t that feel good?

As I’ve said before, Christmas is coming. And we know what that means - money. And spending a lot of it! I want to encourage y’all to think DIY this year and mae as many gifts as possible for family and friends! This is one of the easiest projects you can make and make in bulk too. If you don’t have old Jenga pieces to use, try looking in an Op shop or ask someone if they have an old set they wouldn’t mind giving up. This is the perfect little gift for those you want to give a little present to but you don’t want to spend a lot on. Easy as! I’m going to post a few more ‘Christmas Present’ ideas as we get closer (and o course there’s going to be more when we hit December!) and mostly cheap, easy to do stuff.

A lot of little choices can make a big difference.

I made my own cleaner today!  Kinda nice to have a kitchen cleaner that I’m not allergic to for once. The recipe below is all-natural, cleans pretty well and is better on the environment.
All Purpose Cleaner:
1/4 cup vinegar
1 1/2 tsp borax (found in the laundry cleaner section)
Water
Optional:  4- 5 drops essential scent (found in a craft store, usually near the soap or candle making section).
Take one empty spray bottle (32 oz) and pour in the vinegar, borax and essential scent.  Fill the rest of the way with water.  Add the lid and shake well to mix ingredients.
For use on kitchen and bathroom surfaces.

I made these a few weeks ago and they turned out well.  However, I think next time I’ll try juice instead of the yogurt.
